However, summer introduces a different set of considerations for households with bulk LPG tanks. Faster plant growth, rising temperatures and increased outdoor activity can all affect your installation. This makes summer the ideal season to check that your tank is safe, accessible and well-maintained. The guidance below outlines the simple steps that help you look after your tank and the surrounding area throughout the warmer months. **Keep the area around your tank clear** Summer often brings rapid plant growth, more time spent working in the garden and extended periods of dry weather, all of which can influence the safety and accessibility of your LPG installation. - Remove dead leaves and debris, as dry material can accumulate around or underneath the tank and become a fire risk during hot spells; clearing leaves, grass cuttings, and twigs helps keep the space safe and well ventilated. - Cut back any vegetation that encroaches on the tank, including shrubs, tall grass and overhanging branches, so engineers and delivery drivers can reach it safely. - Finally, check that your tank is on a firm, level base; if it is positioned on slabs, pads or concrete, ensure nothing has shifted over winter so the tank continues to sit securely. **Take care during garden maintenance** Summer is peak season for mowing, strimming and general garden work, and these activities can unintentionally cause damage if you are not careful.
