The current wet weather has resulted in severe flooding in some areas across the UK. In areas that are threatened by flooding where LPG cylinders or bulk tanks are located then there are number of precautionary measures that can be taken – please remember even full tanks and cylinder will float.
The following simple steps can be followed where possible, but should not be attempted if the safety of you or others will be put at risk.
ACTION TO TAKE IF YOUR LPG CYLINDER OR TANK IS THREATENED BY FLOODING

Do attempt turn off each cylinder or tank individually – advice on how to do this can be found by following this link: https://www.flogas.co.uk/safety

Do attempt to anchor each cylinder or aboveground tank to something that isn’t going to move in the flood waters – this includes cylinders that aren’t connected, please remember even full tanks and cylinder will float. For bulk tanks secure some rope to the lifting eye on the end of the tank and for cylinders secure some rope through the neck of the cylinder. Do not tie the rope to any pipework or hoses

Do contact the Flogas 24 hour Emergency line on 08457 200 100 if the cylinder or tank installed at your property is threatened by flood water

Do switch off water, gas and electricity at mains when water is about to enter your home – as recommended by the Environment Agency

DO NOT attempt to disconnect any of the tanks from the pipework

DO NOT put yourself at risk by entering fast moving flood waters

DO NOT take any action that is going to put lives in danger
ACTION YOU CAN TAKE IF YOUR LPG IS SUPPLIED VIA METERED PIPE SYSTEM

Do switch off water, gas and electricity at mains when water is about to enter your home – as recommended by the Environment Agency

Do isolate the gas supply using the isolation valves within the meter box

Do contact the Flogas 24 hour Emergency line on 08457 200 100 if the cylinder or tank installed at your property is threatened by flood water

DO NOT attempt to disconnect any of the tanks from the pipework

DO NOT put yourself at risk by entering fast moving flood waters
